Loyalty to the Resistance bloc says fait accompli government lacks legitimacy

"The fait accompli government lacks legitimacy, contradicts the Lebanese constitution and the Taef accord," Loyalty to the Resistance bloc said on Thursday, warning against "irresponsible" actions which could disrupt the presidential elections.

The bloc added that the Lebanese people should protect their country from the threat of Israeli aggression as well as that of takfiri groups, calling on everyone to build a strong state.

"We regret the state of instability as well as attacks against citizens, including the burning of Tripoli's al-Saeh library," Loyalty to the Resistance bloc said following its weekly meeting.

The bloc also saluted Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani, condemning the attack that targeted him.

"We call for preserving Lebanese religious figures," the bloc said.

On the 29th of December 2013, members of the Internal Security Forces' Intelligence Bureau managed to evacuate Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani from the Khashoggi Mosque in Beirut after mourners at a Lebanese young man's funeral protested his presence.

Protesters threw their shoes at the military vehicle which transported Mufti Qabbani to Dar al-Fatwa.
