Sheikh Ahmad Assir released Wednesday a new audio recording posted on YouTube, shared on Twitter and dubbed “speech addressed to the Islamic world”.
In his address, Assir noted that “there is a universal war against the Sunnis, which is taking many titles such as fight against terrorism, extremism, political Islam and Takfiri groups.”
While he said that the Sunnis make mistakes, he noted that these mistakes are nothing compared to the injustice taking place in Palestine, Afghanistan, Burma, Somalia, Kashmir, Syria and Lebanon.”
On the Lebanese level, Assir said that March 8 forces are fighting the Sunnis in the first place and all those who work against them, whether they were March 14 forces or others.
Addressing the residents of Tripoli, he said: “the government will not arrest the head of the Arab Democratic Party Ali Eid nor will it arrest his son Refaat.”
On another note, he called for closing the Abra clashes case and releasing all the detainees, adding that he will be issuing many statements during the upcoming days.
“We will present evidence in the Abra clashes case,” he said.
