Loyalty to Resistance bloc says political settlement sole solution for Syrian crisis

The Loyalty to Resistance bloc stressed on Thursday that an all-embracing, political cabinet is not "a circumstantial need" in Lebanon, but rather founds the constitutional framework of national accord.

Commenting on the Geneva II conference, the bloc confirmed that the political settlement is the only way to end the Syrian crisis.

"We hope Syrians will agree on a roadmap for a political solution in a bid to achieve stability, reform and responsible freedom. The aspired settlement must be sought by the Syrians themselves," the bloc said following its weekly meeting.

The Loyalty to Resistance bloc also condemned the Hermel and Haret Hreik explosions, noting that "takfiri terrorism" behind bombing incidents poses a threat to Lebanon.

Lebanon has been witnessing a wave of terrorist attacks against Hezbollah strongholds, resulting in casualties and heavy material losses.

The latest attack took place when an explosion rocked on Tuesday Beirut's southern suburbs region of Haret Hreik, a stronghold of the Shi'ite movement Hezbollah, killing 4 persons and wounding more than 40, official sources said.

Similarly, a car bomb exploded on Thursday (16 January) near a local government building in the Lebanese town of Hermel, killing 2 and wounding 40 others.
