PROFILE: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Gebran Bassil

This is a brief review over the life of Minister Gebran Bassil: 

- Gebran Bassil was born in Batroun in June 21, 1970. He is married to Chantal Michel Aoun and has three children: Yara, Gabriel and George. 

- Bassil received a degree in civil engineering in 1992 and a Masters in Communications in 1993 from the American University of Beirut. 

- Bassil is an active member of the Free Patriotic Movement. 

- He ran for Batroun in the parliamentary elections of 2005 and 2009, but did not win. 

- He was appointed as Minister of Telecommunications in the Lebanese government from July 2008 until November 2009. 

- He was appointed as Minister of Energy and Water in 2009.
