Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said Sunday that the ministerial portfolios’ distribution did not hinder the cabinet formation, noting that those who refused the formation of political cabinet were behind the delay, pointing out that Hezbollah and Amal Movement opened the door for the national achievement.
In a speech he delivered on the occasion of the Martyr Leaders’ Memorial Day, he said that the new cabinet seeks settlement and aims at serving the national interests, calling on the political parties to cooperate in order to hold the presidential elections on time.
Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that it is unacceptable to exert pressure on the Lebanese Armed Forces and the judicial authorities each time the security forces arrest a suspect.
“Some people fear that Naim Abbas and Omar al-Atrash will be released, but once a suspect confesses his crimes, no one can release him regardless of who is named minister of justice,” Nasrallah said.
Nasrallah tackled the issue of the explosions and suicide bombings that had been taking place across Lebanon, stressing that the Takfirists are heading toward a declared war and that Lebanon is their target and part of their project.
“We hope that the Lebanese army will one day become the only force capable of defending Lebanon,” he added, pointing out that Hezbollah supports everything that aims at strengthening the army in terms of equipment, personnel and advanced weapons that can protect Lebanon against Israeli threats.
Nasrallah said that “should the Takfirists won their battles, Syria would have become worse than Afghanistan.”
He stated that after Saudi men were trained and funded to fight in Syria, Saudi Arabia realized that a catastrophe will strike the kingdom when these men return.
“Why do all the countries of the world including Saudi Arabia and Tunisia have the right to worry about their nationals fighting in Syria, while Lebanon only has the right to disassociate itself?” he asked.
He stressed that the resistance will win this decisive battle, but it needs time, noting that the martyrs’ blood can be preserved through patience, endurance and avoiding any surge towards a sectarian strife in Lebanon.
On another note, Hezbollah chief urged the Lebanese people to be aware of the threat and dangers posed by Israel, noting that many people believed that Israel invaded Lebanon to expel the PLO, not because of its territorial ambitions.
“The Israelis would have remained in Lebanon where they killed and detained the people and prepared to build settlements in southern Lebanon, had it not been for the resistance,” he said.
