Ahrar al-Sunna Brigade threatens Lebanese Army, dubs security plan malicious
The Baalbek-based Ahrar al-Sunna Brigade warned on Thursday the Lebanese Armed Forces against impulsiveness and dubbed the security plan "malicious".

"The security plan is the product of Hezbollah and Iran and it aims at marginalizing Sunnis in Lebanon," the Brigade said via Twitter.

"Neither you nor Hezbollah will be able to eradicate the revolution despite Iran’s ambitions," the Ahrar al-Sunna Brigade said, addressing the LAF.

Disputes from neighboring Syria's civil war frequently inflame sectarian grievances in Lebanon's Tripoli.

These clashes pit gunmen from both the mostly Sunni Bab Tabbaneh district and the Jabal Mohsen district which mostly comprises residents of Syrian President Bashar Assad's Alawite sect, a Shiite Islam offshoot.

The spillover from Syria also gave rise to frequent bomb attacks mostly targeting Hezbollah strongholds in Beirut, the Bekaa and bordering regions.

The attacks have left dozens killed and wounded and come as a direct result of the groups intervention in Syria in its fight alongside government troops.
