Agriculture Minister Chouhayeb says Naameh landfill will be closed
Agriculture Minister Akram Chouhayeb has informed the Shahhar al-Gharbi heads of municipalities, located near al-Naameh landfill, about the decision to close the landfill on the 17th of January 2015.

He said a ministerial committee is working to find an alternative solution to the problem.

The landfill was opened in 1997 following the closure of the Normandy seafront dump in Beirut, and was initially set to operate for only six year.
