Sleiman urges Parliament to elect new president before May 25
President Michel Sleiman said the greater challenge is to hold the presidential elections on their constitutional time, urging the parliament and the political forces to honor this entitlement.

“I expect the parliament would assume its national responsibility and elect a new president worthy of the Lebanese people's aspirations before May 25," Sleiman said in a statement.

“As guardian of the constitution, I urge the parliament and its political powers to hold the upcoming presidential elections through ensuring the needed quorum,” Sleiman added.

The Lebanese parliament is set to convene on Wednesday in a bid to elect a new president amid fears that the needed quorum will not be met.
