Minister of Health Abou Faour says not surprised by Makari's shortsightedness
Deputy Speaker Farid Makari told Asharq al-Awsat newspaper on Tuesday that he rules out the possibility of an agreement between the Future Movement and the Free Patriotic Movement over the election of FPM chief MP Michel Aoun as president.

He added by saying that "the only good thing to come out of such an agreement would be the elimination of Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt's role as a swing vote at parliament.”

Later on Tuesday, Minister of Health Wael Abou Faour told LBCI that he is not surprised with Makari's annoyance with Jumblatt's political weight, "which has helped preserve civil peace in the country."

“We were not surprised by his shortsightedness over the political scene in Lebanon,” he added.

Jumblat's parliamentary Democratic Gathering bloc consists of 11 MPs, who have not taken sides in the March 14 and 8 camps.

The PSP leader nominated MP Henri Helou, of the Democratic Gathering, for the presidential elections, the first round of which was held last week.

The second round of the votes will be held on Wednesday.
