Foreign Minister Bassil urges diplomats to heed Lebanese expats' needs

Foreign Minister Gibran Bassil told Lebanese expatriates on Thursday that a special decree has been issued to grant them the Lebanese nationality.

"The Future Bloc has made a 'political promise' to back the special decree once it is put under discussion," he said.

The Minister's comments came during the second day of the workshop on diplomacy set in Le Royal Hotel in Dbayeh.

Bassil also bemoaned attempts by some to naturalize Palestinians and grant nationality to Syrians, while the Lebanese expats still lack the nationality of their motherland.

In this regard, he called on diplomats to assume their duties and heed the Lebanese expats' needs and interests.
