Residents call on cabinet to pass law related to the Jal El-Dib bridge
The residents of Jal el-Dib gathered on Friday before the Mar Abda Church calling on the cabinet to pass a law that aims at building the Jal El-Dib bridge.

The residents threatened to block Jal el-Dib’s road if the cabinet fails to pass the said law.

In the same regard, MP Ghassan Mkheiber, who participated in the gathering, told LBCI that the issue pertaining to the bridge is not political, adding that building the bridge is expensive, but should be done.

The cabinet had previously approved a plan to construct a bridge in the area of Jal El-Dib and tasked the Council of Development and Reconstruction with preparing the studies.

In February, the bridge was dismantled after warnings that the structure could collapse.

Since then, the cabinet failed to pass a law pertaining to the said issue; a matter that has sparked anger among the residents of the area.
