Geagea: Who said there aren’t fundamentalists in Lebanon?

The Head of the Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea said on Wednesday that the interpretations of the remarks made by Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn are false and shouldn’t be summarized in one question “aren’t there fundamentalists in Lebanon?”

“Who said there aren’t fundamentalists in Lebanon, aren’t there fundamentalists in the U.S. or in Europe?” Geagea wondered.

Geagea told Al Rai Kuwaiti newspaper in a story that will be published on Thursday that the U.S. will not continue saying that Lebanon is harboring fundamentalists, but it will keep tracking them and will take the information public when they are arrested.

Geagea said that in Lebanon things are done differently, adding that what happened is wantonness and indecency.

“The remarks of the [Defense] Minister serve the interests of the Syrian regime at the expense of Lebanon’s reputation. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated”, Geagea said.
