Maronite meeting in Bkerke: Hindering presidential elections violates constitution

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai chaired a meeting at Bkerke on Wednesday of the three Maronite institutions; the Maronite League headed by Samir Abillamaa, the Maronite Foundation in the World headed by former Minister Michel Edde and the Maronite General Council headed by Wadih al-Khazen.

Following the meeting, the conferees issued a statement whereby they warned the deputies that hindering the parliamentary session dedicated for the election of a new president violates the Constitution and threatens the country.

The Maronite officials said they will continue holding meetings in order to determine their stance regarding the presidential elections.
