March 14 Secretariat: We will stand united against anyone thinking of destroying Constitution
The March 14 General Secretariat condemned on Thursday the parliament's failure to elect a new president following the lack of quorum due to the March 8 camp's boycott of the session.

It also warned that vacuum in the presidency harms the country's state institutions.

March 14 camp's remarks were made in a statement after its weekly meeting: “We will stand united against those thinking of destroying the constitution or superseding it with another.”

Commenting on Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun's remarks that he wants to be part of an "integrated triangle" along with Hezbollah and the Future Movement, the General Secretariat said: “We would like to remind the Lebanese people that the Syrian regime tried to impose such a formula in Lebanon once before.”

“The Taef Accord however destroyed this equation and restored equal power-sharing among Muslims and Christians,” it added.

Aoun said on Wednesday: “We should form an integrated triangle between Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Future Movement head MP Saad Hariri and I.”

"And we cannot dismantle this triangle,” he added.

Parliament failed on Thursday to elect a president for the fifth time following a boycott by the majority of the March 8 alliance over the ongoing disputes with the March 14 camp on a presidential candidate.

Speaker Nabih Berri has kept parliament sessions open-ended until President Michel Sleiman's term ends.
