UNHCR says informed refugees in Lebanon about decision of Interior Ministry
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reported on Sunday that it sent short text messages to almost 1.9 million refugees in Lebanon to inform them that Lebanon’s Ministry of Interior will no longer consider as refugees all those who head to Syria after the 1st of June.

Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq announced on Saturday that Syrian refugees in Lebanon will lose their refugee status if they return to Syria for a visit.
The decision, which takes effect today (Sunday), comes two days after tens of thousands of Syrians flocked to their Beirut embassy to vote in the election.

The refugee influx into Lebanon has burdened the country's weak economy, with politicians on all sides calling for measures to limit the flow.
