Geagea contacts Patriarch Rai, discusses with him presidential elections

Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Geagea contacted on Monday Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai, congratulating him on his return from the Holy Land.

According to a statement issued by Geagea’s press office, the latter denounced the campaigns raised against the Maronite Patriarch, considering that they are a direct interference in the pact of coexistence.

The statement added that Geagea discussed with Rai the presidential elections, expressing his regret that a parliamentary bloc [mainly March 8] is hindering the said entitlement.

In this regard, the statement pointed out that Geagea and Rai tackled the necessity of electing a president in order to steer off the dangers that come with vacuum on the presidential level.
