British government spokesperson to LBCI: Presidential elections are a Lebanese affair
The spokesperson of the British government in the Middle East and North Africa Rosemary Davis stressed Wednesday that the presidential elections are a Lebanese affair par excellence, revealing that there is no British initiative in this regard.

In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, Davis declared that the British government considers Lebanon as a country of high importance, adding that her country seeks to support the Lebanese Armed Forces and the Lebanese government in fighting terrorism and in preventing the war in Syria from reaching neighboring countries.

In this regard, the Arabic-speaking British official said that the Syrian crisis has aggravated after the failure of the Geneva negotiations, noting that the only solution for the issue of the Syrian refugees lies in ending violence in Syria.

“The sole solution for the Syrian crisis can be reached through dialogue between the rival parties, calling for exerting pressure on the regime in order to cooperate with the opposition,” she stated.
