Lebanese border town of Tfeil comes under heavy shelling

The Lebanese border town of Tfeil came under heavy shelling from the Syrian army, leaving several casualties, witnesses reported on Saturday. The shelling caused damages to the residents’ houses and to the town’s mosque.

The Lebanese village of Tfeil lies on a promontory surrounded on three sides by Syrian territory.

Around two months ago, the Lebanese government sent aid convoys carrying food and medical assistance to the town, which is home to nearly 3,000 Lebanese and around 5,000 Syrian refugees.
