Bassil also participated in a breakfast meeting organized by the Middle East Institution, where he described the influx of the Syrian refugees to Lebanon as “a social and economic invasion.”
In this regard, the Lebanese FM noted that “among Lebanon’s characteristics its ability to adapt to different conditions, which constitutes a motive for economic growth,” calling on the immigrants to return to Lebanon and invest in their country.
Commenting on the situation of Lebanon’s oil sector, Bassil stressed the importance of extracting oil and gas in order to serve the Lebanese economy, pointing out that Lebanon possesses an important oil reserve.
