Derbass to LBCI: Reports on naturalization of Syrian refugees are false
Social Affairs Minister Rashid Derbass stated on Wednesday that reports pertaining to the naturalization of 100 thousand Syrian refugees in Lebanon are false.

Derbass told LBCI’s Nharkom Said that ministers will discuss in the upcoming cabinet session scheduled for Thursday the dossier of the refugees, adding that authorities are implementing measures to control the influx of Syrians into Lebanon.

Derbass expressed his concern over the situation of refugees in Lebanon; however, emphasized that the number of refugees will not increase and officials will not register any citizens as a refugee unless the latter is coming from a highly volatile region.

Earlier, Al-Liwaa newspaper quoted Minister Derbass as saying that he received a report from the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) stipulating that the agency is preparing for the naturalization of 100 thousand refugees, adding that it will cooperate with Lebanese officials to issue passports for them.
