LAF chief Qahwaji says military institution thwarted all attempts to undermine its unity
Lebanese Armed Forces chief General Jean Qahwaji said on Friday that a decision was taken to cancel the traditional ceremony marking the Army Day due to the current power vacuum and the dire circumstances Lebanon is going through.

“We pledged today, as we recount tough experiences the country had witnessed... that our army will be the guardian of national unity and coexistence," Qahwaji said, addressing LAF soldiers.

"The military institution has proven, in spite of all ordeals it went through and continuous attempts to attack it, that coexistence is a fact and a conviction," he noted.

"The military institution has thwarted all attempts to undermine its coexistence in a country that is addressing terrorism, Israeli threats as well as foreign and internal crises," LAF chief Qahwaji added.
