Syrian national abducted in exchange for USD 50,000 ransom
The state-run National News Agency reported on Tuesday that a Syrian national has been abducted while he was on his way from Beirut International Airport to the Bekaa.

The agency added that Mahmoud Mohammed Sayyah Moudawar reported to the Bayader al-Adas police station in Western Bekaa the kidnapping of his uncle Abdul Moneim Mahmoud Moudawar.

Moudawar was taken en route from the airport to the Bekaa, the agency added, noting that he had returned to Lebanon from Qatar.

The agency did not specify where the abduction took place.

The kidnappers phone called the victim's wife, asking for a USD 50,000 ransom.

The kidnapping comes as the Lebanese army troops and security forces have been implementing a security plan in the Bekaa, the North and Beirut's southern suburbs.

The plan managed to arrest several leaders of kidnapping networks.
