Hezbollah’s Nasrallah says Lebanese people are capable of preserving their country

The Secretary General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah renewed on Friday his gratitude to all the martyrs who fell and all the people who were injured during the 2006 war against Israel, pointing out that researches and studies about this war are ongoing because it was not a small battle or a passing incident.

In a televised speech, Sayyed Nasrallah stated that “the 2006 war was the beginning of a long battle,” emphasizing that Israel was preparing a prison at the center of the occupied Palestinian land to jail up to ten thousand people who have relations with Hezbollah.

On another note, Sayyed Nasrallah mentioned that Israel aimed at toppling the Syrian regime in order to establish a new regime allied to the United States so they may together target the Resistance in Gaza and abolish the Palestinian cause.

“After all their failures in the region, the Americans are now thinking twice before entering into the region,” Nasrallah said.

He also pointed out that “Lebanon and the entire region are currently facing an existential threat since Americans are using a new method in the region which is manifested in toppling regimes."

Nasrallah stressed that the main elements of this method are the Israelis and the Takfiri groups; however, noted that the said method may be defeated.

He also raised a question regarding the emergence of the Islamic State which is controlling wide areas in the regions and has become fully equipped and has the capability to sell oil from regions it controls.

“How is it succeeding in selling oil under the sight of the UN?” he asked, stressing that the said group “is a criminal organization that commits crimes even against its own people.”

In this regard, Sayyed Nasrallah said that the Islamic State is fighting Al-Nusra front as well as all Sunnis in the region, adding that it is killing its enemies and sharing videos on social media platforms in order to spread fear among the people.

“Those claiming that Syria, Iraq, or Iran helped establish the Islamic State are mistaken. A regional country established the Islamic State and still aiding and supporting it,” he stressed.

Nasrallah emphasized that war taking place in the region is not sectarian, adding that the Islamic State is putting forth all its efforts to eliminate everything that was built in previous centuries.

“Do ye believe that Hezbollah’s withdrawal from Syria will protect Lebanon from the threat of the Islamic State?” Nasrallah asked Lebanese citizens, urging them to put their differences aside and unite for the benefit of Lebanon.

In this regard, Hezbollah’s Nasrallah called on all Lebanese factions and citizens to unite their efforts in order to face any possible threat, emphasizing that they should at first agree that the responsibility falls on the Lebanese Army and Security Forces.

“Lebanese Armed Forces should be well equipped to face any threat,” Nasrallah stressed, adding that they also need the moral support of all citizens.

On the issue of the Syrian refugees, Hezbollah’s Nasrallah stated that Lebanese officials should cooperate with Syrian authorities to resolve this conflict, adding that officials should also tackle with Syrian authorities means to control the Lebanese-Syrian borders.

“UN peacekeepers may not control the borders by themselves. We are talking about hundreds of kilometers.”

As for the presidential entitlement, Nasrallah stated that officials should cooperate to end this deadlock and elect a president who represents the entire nation, stressing that the Lebanese people are capable of preserving their country and its dignity.

“All Lebanese people should hold onto this responsibility,” Nasrallah concluded.
