March 14 Secretariat General stresses need to respect constitutional deadlines
March 14 Secretariat General said that Lebanon is on the verge of falling into a constitutional crisis due to the presidential vacuum, which is affecting the work of the public institutions, proposing to hold the parliamentary elections on the 16th of October.

Following its weekly meeting, the secretariat general noted that “a party that shows keenness on preserving democracy must not hinder the presidential elections and facilitate other electoral processes,” calling on Lebanese factions to respect constitutional deadlines.

On another note, the March 14 alliance stated that the events witnessed by the northern town of Arsal have been partially overcome, due to the unity of the Lebanese and the capabilities of the military institution.

“There are no magical solutions; therefore, the Syrian-Lebanese borders must be controlled by the deployment of Lebanese army troops,” the secretariat general said in its statement.

During the meeting, March 14 forces also tackled the regional situation, including that of Iraq and Syria.
