Lebanon's FM Bassil meets US Ambassador Hale

Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil held on Friday a meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon David Hale at his ministerial office, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Hale handed Bassil a memorandum on a U.S. decision to provide the Lebanese Armed Forces with military equipment.

Ambassador Hale left without making a statement.

One week ago, a shipment of weapons, ammunition, and other equipment was delivered by the United States to the Lebanese army.

The military assistance, which aims to help the army in its fight against terrorism, arrived to the Beirut International Airport.

“Support for the Lebanese army and other security apparatuses is a top priority for the U.S.,” Ambassador Hale said.
