Minister Abou Faour says militants are being treated in Beirut hospital after a judicial ruling

Minister of Health Wael Abou Faour said on Wednesday that six militants from the al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State, who were injured during the clashes with the Lebanese Army in the border town of Arsal, have been treated at the Rafic Hariri University Hospital in Beirut after a judicial ruling.

“The decision to transfer the armed men to the Hariri Hospital was taken by the judiciary,” Abou Faour said during a press conference at the hospital.

“Employees should abide by the rules of discretion regarding medical practice, no matter who the patients are,” Abu Faour explained.

The patients were involved in the five days of clashes between gunmen and the Lebanese Army in Arsal last month, and were reported to have suffered from "critical injuries."

Militants from the al-Nusra Front and ISIS are still holding at least 21 soldiers and policemen hostage, after taking them captive while withdrawing from Arsal last month.
