Death toll of Arsal army patrol attack rises to three-army
The Lebanese army announced on Tuesday that the death toll in an attack on an army patrol in the border town of Arsal earlier this month rose to three.

The army said in a communiqué that soldier Mahmoud Ali Fadel, who had been injured in a roadside bombing, succumbed to his injuries late on Monday.

The 19-year-old will be laid to rest on Tuesday afternoon.

In September 19, attackers detonated a roadside bomb as the army truck passed by on a road near Arsal, killing two soldiers and wounding three others.

The attack came after the army arrested a Lebanese national and two Syrians allegedly tied to a terrorist cell near Arsal.

Tensions on the border with Syria rose in the past two months, after armed men overran Arsal, in early August, capturing and killing soldiers and policemen.

The militants, including the al-Qaeda linked the al-Nusra Front and the extremist Islamic State group, have executed three of the hostages so far.
