Lebanese army arrests nine Syrians in Zgharata's Meryata
The state-run national News Agency reported on Friday that the Lebanese army continued its crack down on Syrian refugees across Lebanon, arresting several illegal Syrian nationals and others on suspicion of links to terrorist groups.

The agency added that an army intelligence unit raided Syrian tented settlements in the Zgharta town of Meryata, arresting nine who entered the country illegally.

The agency said that the Lebanese army also confiscated illegal motorcycles.

Seventy others were arrested in a raid in the town of Qaroun in the Western Bekaa Valley.

The army has come under attacks across Lebanon by armed men who accuse it of cooperating with Hezbollah in its intervention in the Syrian conflict alongside the regime.

It has been carrying out a major crackdown in the southern city of Sidon, the northern city of Tripoli and Minieh for the past two weeks, following clashes with Islamist militants in Tripoli's old markets and Bab al-Tabbaneh, which spread to the nearby town of Bhannine in Minieh.
