MP Hamadeh to make political testimony before STL

MP Marwan Hamadeh is set to make his political testimony before the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) on Monday (November 17).

Hamadeh’s testimony will be as prelude for tackling the political motivations linked to the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri back in 2005.

MP Hamadeh will be the first of a list of politicians and media figures who will appear before the court.

Other officials to follow include Future bloc head MP Fouad Siniora, former MP Salim Diab and Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri's media advisor Hani Hammoud.

The Special Tribunal for Lebanon was set up by the United Nations at the Lebanese government's request to try the alleged perpetrators of the 2005 bombing in which former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and 21 others were killed.
