Lebanon's FM Bassil says political independence doesn't mean isolation
Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil said political independence does not make the country isolated or abandoned but instead the master of its will and freedom.

"Independent diplomacy making means that Lebanon is willing to take the right decision regarding each challenge," Bassil said in a speech delivered Friday on the occasion of Lebanon's Independence Day.

"Lebanon's ability to cope with [surrounding] crises taught the country the concept of adaptation, allowing it to overcome conflicts," he noted, hoping the country's struggle with power vacuum will come to an end.

FM Bassil also urged diplomats to help the country not through meddling in its affairs but by supporting its residents and institutions, adding "Lebanon should become a success story, not a failed state".
