Sheikh Wissam al-Masri told LBCI on Sunday that he will seek to transport the demands of the Islamic State to the Lebanese government, adding that he will exert efforts in order to take a vow from the kidnappers to abstain from executing any Lebanese hostage.
“If the Islamic State vows not to murder any more hostages, it will commit to it,” he said, noting that this depends on the response of the Lebanese authorities.
In this context, al-Masri stressed the need that the Lebanese government be responsive in this issue, pointing out that the cabinet may not be informed of the Islamic State’s demands.
“Our next visit’s objective will be to receive official demands signed by the kidnappers to hand them over to the cabinet,” he stated, noting that the failure of the negotiations will lead to the execution of all the troops.
