MP Frangieh receives delegation representing families of abducted soldiers
The head of the Marada Movement MP Sleiman Frangieh held on Monday a meeting with a delegation of the Arsal captives’ families in Bnachii.

Following the meeting, the captives’ families said MP Frangieh told them he is in favor of any means aiming to release the troops, adding “he promised to offer help in this regard”.

The families also hoped the government would delight them on the Christmas holiday with the release of their sons, saying they will not escalate their movement today pending a positive initiative from the cabinet.

The hostage troops and policemen were captured when jihadists from the Nusra Front and the Islamic State militant groups briefly overran the border town of Arsal in August and engaged in fierce battles with the Lebanese army.

Four captives have so far been executed, and the jihadists have threatened to kill the remaining hostages unless there is a deal to free Islamist prisoners in Lebanon.
