The Maronite Bishops Council called on Wednesday after its periodic meeting on the parliament to carry out its constitutional duties and elect a new president. The Council also expressed hopes that dialogue between rival parties will be fruitful, adding that Lebanon has no future if it continues to be taken hostage by regional and local conflicts. “As long as the presidential vacuum at the Baabda Palace continues Lebanon will be more at risk,” the Council added. On another note, the Bishops called on the cabinet to reach a comprehensive solution to release the Lebanese troops in the border town of Arsal.
