Minister of Health Wael Abou Faour issued on Thursday a decision stipulating the closure of all blood centers affiliated to Dr. Bassam Chouaib (al-Amrousieh-al-Choueifat), Dr. George al-Beaino (Talaabaya), Dr. Qassem Salim (al-Sarafand), Dr. Houssein Haidar (al-Saksakieh), and pharmacists Hussein Khalifeh (Sarafand), Joseph Najjar (Anfeh), Imad al-Afech (Ali al-Nahri), Ricardo Saraff (Kfaryachit-Zgharta) after it was found that these doctors were attending duty in other centers or laboratories, thus making these centers illegal and violating the law governing medical laboratories.

Also, Minister Abou Faour ordered the closure of the following beauty centers for two renewable weeks: Jane Nassar Center in al-Helalieh, Houssam Machmouchi (Sidon), Seif Beauty Clinic (Sidon), Silkor Center (Sidon) for not implementing the labor conditions and the completion of licenses.

He sent a letter in this regard to the governor of South Lebanon Mansour Daou to act accordingly.

Health Minister Wael Abou Faour has been on a mission to target corruption detected in restaurants and supermarkets with regards to food safety standards, and has made public several lists of violating restaurants and supermarkets underscoring the types of unfit foods being sold.

Following the food scandal, the Health Ministry has touched on a new file, ordering the closure of many beauty centers that operate without official supervision.

Abou Faour’s campaign has also tackled the file related to water quality.

The minister, who has received the support of many political forces, vowed to push ahead with his campaign, and stressed the need to protect the Lebanese citizens against any type of contamination.
