Prime Minister Tammam Salam stressed Wednesday that “Lebanon is committed to implementing the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 with all its stipulations, and appreciates the efforts of the United Nations Interim Forces In Lebanon deployed along the border.”
Salam’s statement came in light of the Hezbollah attack carried out earlier today against an Israeli military convoy, in which two Israeli soldiers were killed.
In this regard, Salam expressed concern over “the hostile intentions revealed by the Israeli officials that can lead to further deterioration in Lebanon and the region.”
“Lebanon calls on the International Community to assume its responsibility, and urges it to curb any Israeli attempt to manipulate the region’s security and stability,” he added.
The prime minister added that Lebanon stands united, with all of its factions and political parties, by the legitimate armed forces in their mission to defend the land and the people.
Accordingly, Salam called on all the Lebanese parties to seek national unity under these difficult circumstances, where the country is facing a threat of aggression.
