The Maronite bishops regretted the failure to elect a new president, noting that the presence of a president has become a necessity, “since the current state of vacuum will drag the country toward the unknown.”
In a statement issued following their regular meeting, the bishops praised the efforts deployed by the Lebanese Armed Forces and all the security apparatuses in defending Lebanon against the terrorist organizations, urging all the parties to stand by them and support them with all available means.
On another note, the bishops denounced “the terrorist crime committed by the Islamic State in Libya when they executed 21 Egyptian Copts.”
