Former PM Mikati says al-Tal parking lot project is "nothing but money wasted in the wrong place"

Former Prime Minister Najib Mikati said Wednesday that the al-Tal Square parking lot project “will not make any difference in handling the economic matters and bigger issues in the city of Tripoli,” expressing his concern over the possibility of the project tarnishing the city’s history.

In a press conference, Mikati noted that he supports a development program in Tripoli, rejecting the parking lot project as a single project, “but will support it if it comes within a complete and comprehensive plan to improve Tripoli’s commercial center.”

“Al-Tal parking lot project is nothing but money wasted in the wrong place, since it has no value” he added, reiterating his call for a comprehensive developmental plan.
