Murderer of Syrian child Ali Walid Halloum arrested

A patrol of the Internal Security Forces’ Information Bureau arrested on Tuesday Ahmed Walid al-Basha, who confessed to the murder of Syrian child Walid Halloum.

Basha, who hails from the Syrian city of Talkalakh, said he hanged the child with an iron wire in order to sexually assault him.

14-year-old Syrian child Ali Walid Halloum, who was reported missing on Sunday evening, was found dead in the Akkar town of Kouweikhat on Monday.

Ali was heading towards a cellphone shop, about 150 meters away from his residence in Kouweikhat never to return again.

The town’s mayor Omar al-Hayek had informed the security apparatuses about the child’s disappearance and Ali’s parents urged the concerned authorities to intensify efforts in a bid to reveal the fate of their child.
