Cardinal Rai accuses Lebanon’s parliament of inaction over presidential elections
Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros al-Rai slammed on Monday the Lebanese parliament, accusing it of inaction over the long delayed presidential entitlement.

“We regret that the parliament has failed, due to the practices of a political party, to honor its constitutional duty in terms of electing a new head of state,” Cardinal Rai said during a luncheon in honor of French ambassador to Lebanon Patrice Paoli.

“The current power vacuum is jeopardizing the country at all levels while obstructing the work of state institutions,” Rai added.
