Maronite Patriarch Rai arrives to France
Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai arrived in France on Saturday after his official visit to Armenia where he attended the centenary commemoration of the Armenian genocide.

Patriarch Rai met with the Archbishop of Paris, Cardinal Andre 23rd at the Archdiocese premises in Paris.

Talks featured high over the necessity of electing a new Lebanese president after an almost one year vacuum at the top state post.

A meeting between Rai and French President Francoise Hollande is scheduled to be held on Monday at the Elysee.

Also, Rai is set to inaugurate Europe's Maronite Diocese in the town of Meudon in the French capital’s suburbs.

Lebanese MPs have failed so far to elect a new president over lack of quorum, after the mandate of President Michel Sleiman ended in May 2014.

Vacuum striking the presidential post since May is having bad repercussions on the cabinet and the parliament as the Lebanese state is threatened with further crises over ongoing disputes between the rival parties.
