Nine Lebanese banks among top 1,000 in the world

In a recent survey of the world’s top 1,000 commercial banks, “The Banker” magazine included 83 Arab banks, among which 9 are Lebanese.

According to the rankings, which are based on Tier One capital, the Lebanese banks are listed as follows: Bank Audi, BLOM bank, Byblos Bank, Fransabank, Bank of Beirut, Bankmed, Societe Generale, Banque Libano-Française and Credit Libanais.

The United Arab Emirates ranked first among the Arab states with the most number of banks -with 19 listed among the top 1000, followed by Saudi Arabia with 12 banks, and in third place came Lebanon, Qatar and Bahrain, with 9 banks each.
