Kidnapped servicemen’s families vow to not take escalatory steps

Families of kidnapped soldiers re-called Tuesday upon the Turkish President as well as Qatar’s Emir to lend a hand in order to find a solution to the outstanding dossier related to their loved ones.

Speaking from Riad al-Soleh Square, the families indicated that former Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri had promised them to help in this regard.

They also announced that they will not take any escalatory steps, adding however that they do not intend to harm the interest of the Lebanese people.

The hostage troops and policemen were captured when jihadists from the Nusra Front and the Islamic State militant groups briefly overran the border town of Arsal last August and engaged in fierce battles with the Lebanese army.

Negotiations were conducted, with the help of a mediator in order to reach common terms to release the hostages, but no results have been reached so far.
