Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai called Monday upon the concerned parties to respect the constitutional principles through electing a new president and reviving the work of the parliament, cabinet and public institutions.
During the opening of the 49th ordinary session of the Council of Catholic Patriarchs and Bishops in Bkerke, Rai stressed that the parliament needs to take a technical action in the absence of normal legislation regarding the financial laws.
The patriarch indicated that the citizenship law should be limited to granting the nationality to the descendants of the Lebanese expats.
Rai concluded by expressing his regret that each politician is working for his own interests, setting aside the benefits of the nation.
