A Syrian and a Lebanese arrested over terror linked charges
The General Security declared on Saturday the arrest of a Syrian national and a Lebanese on charges of belonging to terrorist groups.
Within the efforts to crackdown on terrorists, the General Security arrested a Syrian national for his links with a terrorist group, as well as a Lebanese national for providing assistance to him in transporting and hiding terrorists.
The Syrian had confessed to belonging to the Ahrar al-Sham jihadist group.
He also said that he was commissioned by Syrian national Abu Abdul Rahman, who serves as the leader of the armed group that he was fighting within its ranks, to establish a cell that provides the group with financial and logistical support in addition to buying weapons.
He had also cooperated with a Lebanese national to smuggle injured members of the group into Lebanon under false identities and to facilitate their escape.
