Rai: The people have no say, country ruled by one or two figures

Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai said on Monday that establishing a civil state in Lebanon implies that “we live democracy in practice, not in theory”.

During his visit to Canada, Rai added that “everything in the country is politicized”, stressing that the situation cannot remain unchanged.

The patriarch added that the people’s word has become worthless in matters of the nation given that “the country is ruled by one or two figures.”
