Exclusive sources to LBCI: Eye for an eye abductions by Bekaa family

Exclusive sources told LBCI on Sunday that an armed Syrian gang kidnapped Khodr Jaafar, Abdullah Idriss and Ahmad Medlej from the region of Zita in the Bekaa. The three victims are originally from Hermel. In response to the abduction, Al Jaafar tribesmen kidnapped 15 Syrians.

The motives behind this “kidnapping exchange” are not political; they are related to smuggling operations and financial causes.

An-Nahar daily reported that after a Syrian armed gang from Al Rahil family kidnapped three Lebanese citizens from Zita during the past few days, Al Jaafar tribe abducted 13 Syrian nationals from Al Rahil family from inside Syrian territories, detaining them in Lebanon.

The daily stressed that the tribe’s prominent figures denied any political motives behind these abductions. However, fearing possible negative repercussions, LAF units deployed in the region took intensive measures to prevent a conflict.
