No decisive results reached in electricity ministerial meeting
A ministerial meeting was held on Monday to find a solution for the electricity plan before the Cabinet meets on Wednesday to vote on the proposal.

Minister Ali Hassan Khalil and Hezbollah officials will carry the suggestions approved during the meeting to the Minister of Energy Gebran Bassil for discussion.

After the meeting PM Mikati presented the meeting’s conclusions to President Michel Sleiman in Baabda Palace. The proposal presented to minister Bassil included three points: the current Treasury conditions to be taken into consideration, a technical mechanism for implementation that must be drafted; and a regulatory committee for the sector must be formed within three months.

The National Struggle Front ministers said that the current proposal, if accepted, should drastically improve electricity production all across the country.

According to the Minister of Finance Mohammad Safadi the plan’s funding will occur in 2 phases: the first one will be by the government’s treasury, the second one will rely on Arab donations.
