President Sleiman signs decree appointing members of the Supreme Judicial Council
President Sleiman signed the decree appointing the members of the Supreme Judicial Council for three years, non-renewable.

Alpha The Supreme Judicial Council’s mandate expired on Monday and with it the term of the following judges following judges, Michel Tarazi, Sami Mansour, Jean Fahd, Marwan Karkabi and Mohammad Murtada.

Members transferred to new council are, Public Prosecutor Judge Said Mirza (until his retirement next July) and Chairman of the Judicial Inspection Commission, Akram Baasiri        

The Judicial Council's new members are: Public Prosecutor Judge Said Mirza, Chairman of the Judicial Inspection Commission Judge Akram Baasiri, elected members Antoine Daher and Suheir Haraki, and members appointed by decree for a period of 3 years Joseph Samaha and Marie Denise Mouchi.Alpha          

The names of candidates from the Druze community are judges Osama Lahham and Silver Abu Shakra, judges Reza Raad and Nada Dakroub for the Shi’it community, and judges Naseeb Elia and Myrna Abyad for Roman Catholics. 

The Supreme Judicial Council will hold its last meeting this afternoon.
