Rai: Christians will pay the price if Muslim Brotherhood gains power

Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai said Friday that if the situation in Syria worsens and the Muslim Brotherhood gains power over the state, the country’s Christians will pay the price.

The Maronite Patriarch warned the crowd in France that Christians would be subject to deportation or persecution under an extremist regime, adding that “if the Sunnis take the reins in Syria, they will ally with their Sunni brothers in Lebanon, which would unravel the Sunni-Shiite ties”.

“Great powers are only concerned with Israeli interests and the rupture between the Arab states serves this policy”, Rai said, highlighting, during a mass he celebrated in Lourdes, the historical ties between France and the Maronite church.
