Shatah to LBC: Syria is on the path to democracy

PM senior advisor Mohammad Shatah said that he disagrees with Maronite Patriarch Bshara Rai after his recent statements on Syria and Hezbollah, pointing that the current events in the region, and especially Syria, mark a step forward in implementing democracy in the Arab world.

Shatah in an interview to Nharkom Said on LBC said that PM Najib Mikati’s stance towards the Special Tribunal for Lebanon and its funding is reasonable. Referring to Hezbollah, he said that the presence of two authorities in Lebanon opposes the concept of the state and is unacceptable.
